So, this is an odd question, but I'm going to ask it anyway...

What are your opinions on online dating? Is it a wise idea? I'm just wondering if it would be worth it. It isn't exactly easy for me to go out and meet people.

I tried it once. Not so bad if you take the right precautions. But depends what you're looking for?

Then it's worth a shot! Just make sure you don't give out any super personal information. And when you meet for the first time, it should be in a public place.

Also important to have an emergency friend.

Bad things can happen no matter what you do. Might as well give it a try and cover your bases as best you can?

[personal profile] chinmoku 2015-01-18 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's easier to be fooled, and when you meet up with a stranger they may force you into a back alley and stab you in the dark.

[personal profile] chinmoku 2015-01-18 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Granted, I haven't been stabbed enough times to tell you it's the norm, but it's what I would do. The other person has their defences down; it would be a simple task, especially for somebody who is unable to escape quickly.

[personal profile] chinmoku 2015-01-18 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
How much trust can there be? It's takes years getting to know someone before I wouldn't think of stabbing them.

[personal profile] chinmoku 2015-01-19 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
*I* would say to forget the idea entirely-- normal dating isn't devoid of stabbing either. But your dog can bite and is very capable of dragging a body out of the alleyways. I think the experience would be good.

It works for some but not for others, if daytime TV has taught me anything!

Personal preference! It all comes down to that! If going out and finding that Special Someone isn't something you think you can do, then maybe online dating is the thing for you? Like others have said you should be careful, but at the same time you'll need to be willing to take risks. It's easier to fall in love with someone when you can't see them, when they're stripped bare and all you see is their personality. But at the same time it adds a whole other level of complications. If you meet will they like you? Is the personality you see online the same as in real life? Will you like them?

Think the question you should be asking is; how much am I willing to risk? And do you really need to be dating someone to be happy?

Hey, and if you're really that interested in meeting someone, ever thought about speed dating? I've had extreme pokes in my side to get into that 'scene' since I've apparently been single long enough... Would like the company, if you're interested?

What's life without a little risk, though? Isn't love by it's very nature a risk? You're trusting someone with your very heart, you're taking the risk that they'll take your heart and keep it safe for you and as loved as you love them. But even getting out of bed in the morning or walking down the street has it's risks!

I think you need to learn to be happy being with you. Or rely on friends? You can tell secrets to friends can't you? But saying that, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I miss that too.

At the very least it's good for a laugh! And as I see it, might help you decide how much risk you're willing to take for love!

Online dating is fine. It gives you the opportunity to do a full background check on the other person before meeting them.

On the other hand, there are a lot of gold-diggers out there, so be careful.

After some of the answers you got, I am rather unsurprised!

We should go to the symphony again. I do have a box reserved, after all.

All right. When do you want to go? Take a look at what is playing and let me know. If you can't decide between two, we'll see one this week and the other next!

My box seats sit there empty if I don't attend. You would be doing me a huge favor if you were to encourage me to attend more often.
